So far, I've had the same problem with free or low cost advertising: conversion rates are close to zero. For me, SEO worked best for one site, while social media was the key traffic generator for another one. As Adrian said in his article on The Best Advertising Method, it depends on your skills, as well as on the site you want advertised.

Just had to say hi, and thank you for a good laugh.
It is a proven fact that people use safelist, and traffic exchanges. because
they are free or very little cost. As most people starting out don’t have
a lot of money to lose doing adwords, which can cost a small fortune.
Myself I could never figure out adwords, even after reading, and watching
some videos on the subject, I was still lost.

An affiliate promotes Ultimate Guide to Solo Ads via a program called “Free Ad Planet”. It’s a kind of traffic exchange where you view ads and earn credits for your own ads. From 23rd July, 03:24, till 25th July, 22:20, from the SAME IP, my salesletter got 351 hits. THREE HUNDRED FIFTY ONE hits from the same person, and of course no sale. What do you think about this? It is an idiot or a software that “views” ads and earns credits?

This is not an unusual result and this is what you have to expect from free advertising. WASTED TIME and BANDWIDTH…
